Snowpulse Avalanche Life Bag
The Life bag 30L comes in two sizes and is ideal for storing everything you need for a full day in the backcountry, making it a favourite with mountain guides.
The Base Unit houses the Snowpulse Airbag System and the detachable 30L volume has a dedicated shovel and probe compartment plus room for any extra equipment you might need, some snacks and a dry pair of gloves! The pack is also hydration compatible.
On the outside there's compression straps, an ice axe fixation point and detachable ski/snowboard carry. If you're a climber you might find the helmet sling comes in useful, but if you have no need for head gear the sling is removable.
The clever bit is that the volume is interchangeable with alternate pack sizes of 15L or 45L; giving you the flexibility to pack more stuff if you're off on a longer tour or the bare necessities if you're planning some resort based backcountry skiing. Just remove your original volume and attach the new pack to the Base Unit using the waterproof zippers.
Designed in conjunction with mountain professionals, the ergonomic Life bag system is the lightest avalanche airbag system on the market, this model weighs in at a tiny 2.9kg with filled cylinder in its lightest form.
The 150L airbag is activated using a tough ergonomic release handle. This triggers the cylinder, fully inflating the airbag within 3 seconds. The handle is located in a securely zipped compartment on the left shoulder of the pack; this helps to avoid accidental inflation, but should always be kept out in avalanche terrain for ease of access. The Life bag system maximises avalanche survival chances by avoiding complete burial. The innovative shape of the airbag uses head-on-top technology (HOT) to protect the head, throat and chest from trauma and keeps your face out of the snow, helping to avoid choking or suffocation and reducing the chances of shock.
The Life bag is also an excellent aid for rescue, its bright colour is easy to spot and, when deflated by a rescuer, extra space is created around the victim helping to free them from compacted snow.
